Hey, I’m Jo – and I’m so glad you’re here!
Let’s get to know one another. I want to share a bit of my life story with you in the hope that you’ll see just what’s possible when you put your mind to something you love. So grab yourself a cuppa, settle in and let’s get to it.
I know what it’s like to feel uncertain about life
I wasn’t prepared for motherhood – it arrived much earlier than I was expecting! As a first time mum in year 12 at high school, I decided to take it one step at a time. I took a term off school to have my baby and it was tough – there are so many negative stigmas about young mums. But I was determined to finish school and prove to myself that I could do it.
I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs
But I did it – I graduated from high school and started a nursing degree in Warrnambool, Victoria. I’ve always loved health and have spent a lot of time volunteering over the years, a passion that began when I was a kid.
But not everything was as it seemed, especially in my intimate relationship. It ended and I spent a brief stint living with my parents before creating a nurturing home for my daughter and I.
I’ve never let my circumstances define me
When my daughter started school, l worked part-time (mainly admin roles in healthcare) and I studied social work via distance education. It was important for me to continue learning and growing as a woman while also raising my daughter on my own. The juggle was real, the juggle is still real.
I completed work placements at Women’s Health East and at Berry Street, focusing on women, health, and young people. This led to my first job at Peter Mac working predominantly with women experiencing breast cancer, as well as supporting their families. This gave me a unique perspective on what women go through when their bodies are under severe stress – there are a lot of complicated emotions to process.
After my role at Peter Mac, I had the opportunity to work with and support expecting and new parents at the Mercy Hospital for Women. There, I supported women, some of which had complex needs. This experience, combined with my own personal journey, fuels the work I do today.
I’m proof that you can get what you want
You can find a way to work through the challenges and create a life that you want, despite the adversity. There are so many different ways you can build a life that’s beyond your current circumstances.
I want you to know that you’re capable of living a life of health, happiness, and wellbeing. And I’m here to show you how. Life has a funny way of giving you exactly what you need at the right time, but the trick is to be self-aware enough to notice when it’s happening.
You can’t do that if you’re always stuck in panic mode – which can sometimes feel like the only option. But there is another way.
Your health and wellbeing is my priority
There are so many pressures you’re facing each and every day – from the expectations, you place on yourself, those of your parents to the needs of your partner and friends, to work or study. Sometimes it can all be a bit overwhelming. But you don’t have to go it alone.
I’m passionate about health and wellbeing for myself and my kids (l have three), and you’re no exception. I have a stack of tools and resources to share (some of which are already on my blog) to make your life easier, more productive, and enjoyable.
What happens in our lives is a direct reflection of what’s happening inside of ourselves, so taking care of yourself has to be a priority. When you find the right balance of head and heart, making those big life decisions gets easier – and it all starts here.
What kind of world do you want to live in?
I want to live in a positive world, one where everyone’s value is acknowledged and respected. At the end of the day, we’re all humans and we crave connection and belonging. And my goal is to give you opportunities to grow, develop, and thrive.
Join me for a revolution of the heart ❤️
